FAQ
The things firms ask us most, across pricing, the product, the client portal, and getting started. If your question isn't here, get in touch and we'll answer it.
Just an email address. Sign-up is free, takes about 30 seconds, and needs no credit card. You verify your email and you're in, with full access to the platform and your first three client businesses free. Sign up here.
You don't need to book a demo to try it. Create a free account, load the demo data, and explore the whole platform on your own screen. If you'd prefer a guided walkthrough, contact us and we'll arrange one.
Yes. Sign up free with no clients and no credit card, explore the platform with demo data, and add your first client business when you're ready. Your first three are free, so you can get going before you pay anything.
It's better than a trial: your first three client businesses are free forever, not for a limited window, and they don't expire. You get full access to the entire platform with no credit card required. See pricing.
Yes. Support is included on every plan, free or paid. Send a note from the Contact page and a real person gets back to you, usually within one business day. New firms also get hands-on help migrating their first clients.
There's nothing to renew or re-sign. As long as your account is active, your access continues month to month. Add your fourth business and paid billing simply begins. If you'd like to talk through scaling up or volume rates, get in touch.
ZiePieBooks is built for accounting firms and bookkeeping practices that manage books for other businesses. Your firm serves its own clients across any industry; the platform is industry-agnostic and doesn't restrict the kinds of client businesses you can keep books for.
Accounting firms and bookkeepers who manage books for client businesses. Inside a firm, your bookkeepers, supervisors, and accountants each work with role-based permissions. Your clients get their own secure portal to review flagged transactions and sign off on closed periods.
Firms of any size, from solo bookkeepers to practices managing hundreds of clients. The first three client businesses are free either way, and large or multi-office firms can talk to us about volume rates.
Your firm's own people do the books. ZiePieBooks is the platform they work in, not a bookkeeping service. AI handles the repetitive volume, but every number has a person on your team behind it, and your people make the decisions and sign off.
Firm management and bookkeeping in one system: a firm-wide live dashboard, reusable workflow templates, full-engagement task generation, history-first plus AI categorization, bank connections and PDF/CSV import, reconciliation and period lock, an immutable audit trail, a secure client portal for review and sign-off, role-based permissions, and time tracking and profitability. See the product.
The full engagement lifecycle: client onboarding, bookkeeping and categorization, statement ingestion, reconciliation, supervisor review, client sign-off, and period close, each running on reusable workflow templates you define once and reuse across every engagement.
QuickBooks Online is built for a single business doing its own books. ZiePieBooks is built for a firm running many clients at once: firm management and bookkeeping in one system, with the books under your firm's own roof, workflow templates, ordered task routing, a firm-wide dashboard, and an immutable audit trail. Migration from QuickBooks or Xero is a supported, first-class path.
Transactions come in automatically. Connect a bank and they flow in, or upload a PDF or CSV, even a full year in one file, and the platform reads it and stages the transactions. History-first plus AI categorization proposes the coding, and a person on your team reviews and approves.
ZiePieBooks keeps double-entry books with a firm chart-of-accounts template, categorization, reconciliation, and period close, so you can maintain each client's books on the basis they need. For specifics on your clients' situations, get in touch.
No. We don't offer any tax service right now. ZiePieBooks is a firm management and bookkeeping platform: it keeps clean, reconciled, defensible books that your firm uses to prepare and file returns in whatever tax software you already use.
You send an onboarding link. Your client verifies by email and gets their own secure workspace, where they review and approve flagged transactions, upload documents, connect banks, and sign off on closed periods, all online with nothing handled offline.
Yes. You run each client on a workflow you define, so a quarterly client's engagement and periods can match their cadence. Every client business you manage counts the same way for pricing, whatever their reporting frequency.
Pricing is per client business, per month. Your first three client businesses are free, forever, then it's $29.99 per business per month. It's pay as you go with no contract, no minimum, and no setup fee. The entire platform is included on every plan, free or paid. See pricing.
Per client business. It's $29.99 per business per month past your first three free, and each business includes one user license. If your firm needs more people working on the same client's books, talk to us.
You pay $29.99 per client business per month for each business past your first three, which stay free. Add a business when you win it, remove it when you don't, and the bill follows the businesses you're actually running that month. Large or multi-office practices can talk to us about volume rates.
We don't. ZiePieBooks is priced per client business per month, not by transaction volume, expenses, or revenue. It's a flat $29.99 per business per month past your first three free, so your cost is predictable and doesn't spike with a busy month.
There are no feature add-ons to buy. Every plan, free or paid, includes the entire platform. You pay per client business, and each business gets everything.
Each set of books is one client business. Your first three are free, and each additional one is $29.99 per month. A client with two companies counts as two businesses. Your own firm's workspace is never counted or charged.
There's only one plan, and it flexes with you. Add a client business and paid billing starts for it, remove one and billing stops. It's pay as you go, so what you pay always follows the businesses you're actually running.
ZiePieBooks is a firm management and bookkeeping platform; it doesn't process payments or pay bills, so there are no per-payment fees. Your $29.99 per business per month covers the entire platform. Payments and invoicing stay in your existing tools.
No. There are no setup fees and no one-time charges. Sign-up is free, and you pay nothing until your fourth client business.
No. No setup fees, no annual contract, and no minimum term. You only pay $29.99 per month for each client business past your first three free.
Cancel any time before your next monthly renewal. Your access runs to the end of the period you've already paid for, then stops, and you won't be charged again. There's no contract or minimum term. Any prorated amount owed back is refunded to your original payment method within 30 days.
The standard plan is pay as you go, billed monthly, with no annual prepayment required. If your firm wants an annual arrangement or a locked rate, talk to us and we'll set up terms that fit.
Any applicable taxes depend on your location and are shown at checkout. If you need specifics for your jurisdiction or a firm's billing details, contact us.
Pricing is in USD and bank connections run through Plaid. If you're unsure whether your region or banks are supported, contact us and we'll tell you exactly where we stand.
Yes. Each firm's data is isolated at the database level and never visible to any other firm. Access runs on role-based permissions checked on every action. History is immutable and hash-chained, re-verified nightly, data is encrypted in transit and at rest, and bank links go through Plaid so credentials are never stored on our side. More on security.
We'd rather answer it directly than leave you guessing. Reach out and we'll get back to you fast.
